The race course is an out and back from Marion High School with minimal traffic. The walk will begin 3 minutes after the run. The course will be marked and a water stop will be provided. Registration fee includes a t-shirt and a ticket to the All You Can Eat Pancake and Sausage Breakfast hosted by the Marion FFA Alumni from 6 to 10 AM at the Marion High School Cafeteria.

To ensure a correct t-shirt size, entry forms must be submitted by Friday, February 17, 2012 Registration fee is $18. Race day registration is permitted and packet pick-up begins at 7:00 AM in the Marion High School lobby. Extra breakfast tickets may be purchased at the door for $6.

Ridge Scout Camp located on Little Grassy Lake in southern Illinois.
The run is on a trail cut around camp, which incorporates views of the

their finish time in each runner/walker category wins a frozen turkey.
Second and Third closest from each runner/walker category wins a pie.
Proceeds from your registration support the Boy Scouts of America in
southern Illinois. No time pieces are allowed to be worn. Approximately
a 5K Trail Run.

The race course is an out and back from Marion High School with minimal traffic. The walk will begin 3 minutes after the run. The course will be marked and a water stop will be provided. Registration fee includes a t-shirt and a ticket to the All You Can Eat Pancake and Sausage Breakfast hosted by the Marion FFA Alumni from 6 to 10 AM at the Marion High School Cafeteria.

To ensure a correct t-shirt size, entry forms must be submitted by Friday, February 15, 2013 Registration fee is $20. Race day registration is permitted and packet pick-up begins at 7:00 AM in the Marion High School lobby. Extra breakfast tickets may be purchased at the door for $6.

For basic race timing, we have posted generic forms below.

Finish line bib score sheet:

This form can be printed and used to write the bib number and clock (finish) time of the participant. Finish line bib score sheet

Sheets can be numbered each '10' participants. If a printing stop watch is used, the bib number recorder should occasionally write down the clock time, so any error can be localized. It is a good idea for the timer and the recorder to check periodically to see they have timed the same number of participants. The data recorder should leave a blank line for any person timed in error (an unregistered runner or someone who has already finished and runs through the chute a second time. This will keep all recorded finish times in line with the bib number of a finished participant. We use this system in conjunction with a second, separate system of 'tear off' bib tags.

Age Group Registration sheet: This form can be used to set up individual pages for age groups to simplify results processing.

There should be a separate sheet for each age group, both male and female. To use this type of form, the participant information must be logged on the correct sheet during the registration process. Necessary information includes the bib number, paricipant name and age. To simplify the process, the registration personnel may use a marking pen to put a letter "A" - "Z" on the bib number to correspond to the appropriate age group sheet. (For example: Male 15 - 19 might be designated "A" and that would be put on the Age Group Registration Sheet for that age group and also written on each bib number for a person in that age group. The person writing down bib numbers at the finish line, would then write bib number '123' and 'A' to designate which sheet to find to enter the finish position. When processing results, you simply take bib '123' with age group designation "A" and find that sheet to record his overall finish position and time.

When all participant's finish positions have been posted to the Registration Sheets, you determine the award winners. First, for all divisions (generally male and female), you need to select and pull out the overall winners, since they will not be receiving age group awards. If you are giving awards to the top three overall, simply find them and write "1st Overall", etc in the "Place Age Group" column. With them taken out of the mix, it is easy to look at the "Place Overall" and to put the corresponding value in the "Place Age Group" column. So the first finisher in the Female 35 - 39 age group may have finished 41 overall and the second finisher in that age group may have finished 56 overall. If you give awards to the top "masters" participants, you will have to pull them out of the age group awards as well. You should give thought to how you will handle the awards if a "masters" runner is the overall winner. My belief is that no one needs two trophies for one event. Anyone who wins an overall award has plenty of trophies, so give the age group awards to those who may never have won and award. It may be the motivation it takes to keep them coming back and to encourage their friends to join them.
